The Journey Through Nursing School: A Rollercoaster Worth Riding

Oh, nursing school. It felt like an eternity while I was in it, but looking back, it flew by in the blink of an eye. One minute I was nervously walking into my first class, and the next, I was standing in my cap and gown, wondering how I even made it through.

The truth is—nursing school was hard. The late-night study marathons, the emotional breakdowns after failing a test by just one point, the constant fear that maybe I wasn’t cut out for this... it all took a toll. I remember those moments of pure doubt, wondering if I would ever actually become a nurse. The pressure was intense, and the expectations were high.

Everyone’s nursing school experience is different, but we all face our own battles. For me, it was the overwhelming amount of information to memorize and understand—pharmacology, pathophysiology, care plans, clinicals—you name it. But what helped me survive were the people I met along the way. I’m forever grateful for the friendships I made during those tough semesters. The study groups in the library, the Starbucks sessions that turned into therapy chats, the group texts full of last-minute reminders before exams—those memories are priceless.

Nursing school pushed me to my limits, but it also showed me what I’m capable of. It taught me resilience, teamwork, and the value of leaning on others. And while it was one of the hardest things I’ve ever done, it was also one of the most rewarding.

If you're in the middle of it right now and wondering if you’ll make it—keep going. You’re stronger than you think. And one day, you’ll look back and realize that every tear, every sleepless night, and every doubt was worth it.

Because becoming a nurse? There’s no feeling like it.
